where does a degree help now?

I have an M.D, Mary Rockwood Lane founder and director emeritis of Shands AIM

an R.N PhD in nursing..

This helps to go into the hospital, it opens doors, establishes some credibility, has contacts

If you have a transformative arts masters from JFK you can get work running a program in schools, teaching, etc, very good.

So degrees are good for opening doors

Probably getting grants,

Gina Rose at Chaplaincy institute knows that a chaplain degree gets jobs in hospitals then you do healing art as a chaplain, Mary thinks the R.N allows you to do healing art as a nurse.

The first dancer in residence at shands aim Jill Sonke Henderson has had no degree licence

Is now director of Society of Arts in Healthcare and teaches art and healing at University of Florida and runs Cahre

The first artist in residence maybe in the us Cindy Perlis at uc arts for recovery has had no licence she was a painter now runs one of the best programs in the world….

So…..

When Mary Rockwood Lane started Shands AIM she was a nurse and the ultimate guerilla program director

It started in a closet stolen from supplies,

Now is offical growing funded… ummmm

The artist healer was is the ultimate guerilla artist

The shaman priestess artist healer never had  licence but was recognized by her people as HER her ….

last week I rececied several emails asking me whether the mailer should go to school and get a degree to do art and healing . 

Social work school, nursing school, psychology grad school etc.

people say, “I know I am an artist/healer and I want to do something to intentionally heal with art, what to do?

Then they often say, I am not interested in the courses, they are not what I want, I want art and healing !!!!

So….

let's start thinking about this, what do you think???
