Spirituality, Self-Healing, and Nonverbal Communication – The Art of Healing

This series of films takes a warm and personal look at the role that spirituality, self-healing, and nonverbal/psychic communication play in healing.1

This is an intriguing and unique approach to a topic that has been addressed in other medically oriented films, including Healing Words: Poetry & Medicine,2 and Medicine and Humanistic Understanding.

The Middle Pillar Meditation

The Middle Pillar Meditation is an important part of the esoteric practice of magic. It is an exercise for awakening & charging the spheres of the Tree of Life. It is a powerful technique for achieving ecstatic experiences. It also promotes emotional quiescence & mental poise. It is a very effective healing meditation, but it is a method that must be used with caution. It requires a lot of focus & time and hasn’t been scientifically proven to work. There are many other alternatives that don’t require the same level of time or effort but offer far better results.

The Middle Pillar Meditation involves thinking about the 5 energy centers of the body called sephiroths. It is similar to the chakra system but works in reverse. It starts with Kether (Spirit, Aether or Ether, white brilliance) then Yesod (Water, Blue Marine) & finally Malkuth at the feet (Earth, Russet). It is an extremely powerful but dangerous meditation.

Self-Reflection

Practicing self-reflection is the process of examining and considering your thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviors. It’s an important step to gaining self-understanding and a sense of calmness that empowers individuals to handle everyday life.

It helps you to identify your strengths and weaknesses and understand what makes you unique. Using self-reflection, you can learn from your mistakes and create effective strategies to overcome challenges. It also helps you to better articulate your needs and wants so others can understand you.

Taking time for self-reflection can be challenging because of busy schedules, but it’s important to incorporate this into your routine. It can help to make a habit of it and choose a time that’s typically quiet and worry-free for you to reflect. If you’re struggling to find the time, consider working with a therapist who can support you with this practice in a safe environment. They can also help you to recognize if you are ruminating instead of reflecting.

Imagination

When we imagine, we simulatively represent to ourselves some kind of behavior or experience. In ordinary contexts, imaginings have little epistemic value, but they can be helpful in making life-altering decisions about one’s health, well-being and relationships. Hence, imagination is an important part of the art of healing. Imagination can help us work through difcult feelings, emotions and experiences. It also allows us to gain new insights and understandings about ourselves. The Middle Pillar Meditation incorporates imagination into a powerful healing tool.

Intention

A good intention can be anything from a’spiritual’ goal to a daily affirmation. It can be a short list of intentions for the day or a longer one designed to support life changes or specific times of year (such as New Year’s resolutions). Intent can be a powerful way to help focus your energy and redirect it when you’re pushed and pulled in different directions.

It is common to see ‘intent’ used as a synonym for belief, but this creates the risk of confusion. Some philosophers wishing to clarify the distinction between belief and intending argue that in order for something to be an intention it must be a representation that is capable of being guided or controlled, so it cannot just be a token of believing p.

It may surprise you to know that art heals. Studies show that exposure to art can calm patients, speed healing and reduce the need for pain medication.
